About venue

Lincoln Cathedral is one of the great masterpieces of English Gothic architecture, crowning the hill above the historic city since 1072. For over two centuries — from the completion of its central spire in 1311 until 1548 — it was believed to be the tallest building in the world, surpassing even the Great Pyramid of Giza. Its vast triple-towered silhouette still dominates the Lincolnshire skyline for miles around.

Inside, the cathedral unfolds in soaring vaulted ceilings, the celebrated St Hugh's Choir and the famous carved Lincoln Imp, with stained glass that floods the medieval stonework with colour. The immense nave, with its remarkable natural acoustics and candlelit atmosphere, creates an unforgettable setting for orchestral and choral performance — sound blooms and lingers beneath the Gothic vaults in a way few concert halls can match.
