The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London presents the London leg of the Fauré Requiem Celebration mini-tour at St Stephen’s, Gloucester Road — marking the 102nd anniversary of Gabriel Fauré’s death. After this London performance, the tour continues to the composer’s own church, l’Église de la Madeleine in Paris.
Fauré’s Requiem is one of the most consoling works in the choral repertoire — music of quiet radiance rather than dread, from the serenity of the Pie Jesu to the gentle farewell of In Paradisum. It will be performed by The Brandenburg Festival Chorus under the direction of conductor David Wordsworth.
