On 9 May, we held our first concert in Ripon, presenting a Tribute to Ludovico Einaudi 2.0 at the striking Holy Trinity Church.
For our debut in the city, Mystery Ensemble brought a renewed programme dedicated to one of the defining voices of contemporary neoclassicism. Einaudi’s music has a rare ability to say much with very little: a repeated figure, a quiet chord, a phrase that seems to move like light across a room.
In the setting of Holy Trinity Church, this music felt especially clear. Einaudi’s sound often lives between motion and pause, and the venue gave those pauses real weight. The melodies did not rush; they settled, glowed, and slowly changed shape.
The programme reflected the qualities that make Einaudi’s music so recognisable: minimalism without coldness, emotion without excess, simplicity that continues to resonate after the final note.
For us, the first concert in Ripon became a quiet but meaningful beginning. With Tribute to Ludovico Einaudi 2.0, we opened this new chapter through music that does not need grand gestures to create a lasting impression.
