On 8 May, we held our first concert in Ely, bringing Hayao Miyazaki’s Dreams by Mystery Ensemble to the magnificent Ely Cathedral.
It was a setting made for music that seemed to float. Under the cathedral’s vast arches, the worlds of Hayao Miyazaki opened with a new depth: forest paths, flying castles, quiet trains, brave heroines and creatures born from folklore and imagination.
For us, the first concert in Ely became a beautiful encounter between place and imagination. Miyazaki’s universe did not need screens here. It lived in the music, in the silence between phrases, and in the cathedral air around the audience.
