On 27 June, we held our first concert in Nottingham — and the evening at St Mary’s Church was sold out.
The Music of The Lord of The Rings. Tribute to Howard Shore arrived in the city with the quiet force of a story everyone already knows by heart, yet wants to hear again. Inside the historic church, Mystery Ensemble brought Tolkien’s world into live sound: not as a distant film memory, but as something immediate, breathing and close.
Howard Shore’s music has a rare ability to make space feel larger than it is. A single theme can open a road; a familiar motif can bring back the green peace of the Shire, the shadow of danger, the weight of farewell and the fragile hope that carries the journey forward.
For our Nottingham debut, that world met a full hall. The sold-out evening made this first concert feel especially vivid — a meeting of music, atmosphere and audience attention, all gathered around one of cinema’s most beloved scores.
