When Dinosaurs Learned to Sing: Celebrating Jurassic Park with John Williams

On 11 June, we celebrate the anniversary of Jurassic Park — Steven Spielberg’s legendary film, first released in 1993, with music by John Williams. More than three decades later, the gates of the park still open in our imagination the moment those first noble, rising notes begin.

Jurassic Park became a landmark of cinema not only because it showed dinosaurs like never before, but because Williams gave awe its own sound. His theme does not roar — it breathes. It turns the impossible into something majestic, fragile and almost sacred.

That is why this date feels so closely connected to our concerts The World of John Williams. In this programme, the music of Jurassic Park stands alongside Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Superman, Schindler’s List and other unforgettable scores — each one a doorway into a different universe.

Today, we celebrate a film that taught millions to look at wonder with wide eyes. And we celebrate the composer who made that wonder audible.
