On 5 June, Monkstown Church opened its doors to Middle-earth for the first time as we brought The Music of The Lord of The Rings: Tribute to Howard Shore to the town.
The evening did not need scenery, swords or distant mountains to summon Tolkien’s world. A few notes were enough: the soft green memory of The Shire, the quiet ache of Farewell, dear Bilbo, the shadowed pull of Gollum, the grace of Undomiel, the long road still stretching ahead. In the intimate setting of Monkstown Church, Howard Shore’s music felt less like a soundtrack and more like an old map unfolding in sound.
This first concert in Monkstown became a new stop on the journey of one of our most cherished programmes. The Music of The Lord of The Rings arrived with warmth, mystery and the kind of atmosphere that lingers after the final note — as if somewhere, just beyond the church doors, the road was still going on.
