After a long pause, we return to Basel with a programme that feels especially right for such a moment: “Tribute to Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons Recomposed” performed by Ensemble Sinfonietta Bern.
Some returns ask for celebration; others ask for precision, atmosphere, and a certain inner tension. This music carries exactly that balance. In Richter’s reimagining, Vivaldi’s familiar cycle is not replaced, but reopened — as if the seasons were being heard again through memory, distance, and a different kind of light.
For us, coming back to Basel is not simply a matter of adding another date to the route. It is about re-entering a city with a programme that listens as carefully as it speaks: music built on repetition, breath, detail, and subtle emotional shifts. Basel has always felt like the kind of place where such a language can fully land.
We are glad to return with a work that is both recognisable and quietly transformative — and grateful to see Basel once again become part of our map.
