Ma’at Ensemble

Ma’at Ensemble

Founded by cellist Jolien Deley and first violinist Griet Wiame, Ma'at began as a string quartet for the first performances of IBE, winner of The Voice van Vlaanderen 2019, and has since grown into a close-knit and versatile ensemble.

Ma'at moves effortlessly between classical repertoire, film music, pop and contemporary music, creating its own arrangements for both live performances and studio recordings. Depending on the programme, the ensemble performs in different formations, from smaller chamber groups to larger string ensembles. Like the Egyptian goddess whose name they share, Ma'at stands for authenticity, harmony and reliability.

The ensemble has performed at major venues and festivals including Rock Werchter, Ancienne Belgique, AFAS Live and the Ziggo Dome, and has appeared alongside artists such as Stan Van Samang, Tom Dice and Regi.

Ma'at is also active in film and television recording, contributing to scores by composer Ruben De Gheselle, including Young Hearts, Voor de Meisjes, Northern Lights, Patience and Clara Sola.

All four founding members are also part of The Symphony of Unity, Tomorrowland's symphonic orchestra, with whom they recorded the orchestra's first album.
