Johann Strauss II
Johann Strauss II, the "Waltz King", wrote The Blue Danube and the music of imperial Vienna. Hear his waltzes performed live.
Johann Strauss II (1825–1899) ruled 19th-century Vienna as the "Waltz King". The Blue Danube, Tales from the Vienna Woods and the Emperor Waltz, along with the operetta Die Fledermaus, capture an entire era of elegance, romance and dancing. His waltzes remain the centrepiece of Vienna's New Year tradition to this day. Performed live, their lilt and sparkle are impossible to resist.
