Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky gave us Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and some of the most emotional music ever written. Hear his masterpieces performed live.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840–1893) was Russia's greatest Romantic composer, blending Western symphonic form with an unmistakably Russian intensity of feeling. His ballets Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, the 1812 Overture, the First Piano Concerto and his late symphonies are beloved worldwide for their soaring melody and emotional power. Performed live — and especially around Christmas, with The Nutcracker — his music is irresistible.
