Jannes Desmet
Jannes Desmet is a passionate singer based in Brussels. He specialises in classical singing and has a strong passion for Baroque music.
As a child, he showed a keen interest in violin and piano. Later, he began studying violin at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, where he studied under Elisa Kawaguti, laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
For the past eight years, Jannes has been focusing on singing (countertenor). He began his vocal training with Kim Meyns at the Etterbeek Music Academy. He currently studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under Michele Losier.
In addition, Jannes has taken private lessons with Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, Carlo Vistoli, Logan Lopez Gonzalez, Yves Sotin, Federico Fiorio, Xavier Sabata, Alexander Schneider, Andrej Njemzer, Gary Jankowski, Anne Cambier and Ilse Eerens.
He has collaborated with ensembles such as Baroque and More, conducted by Luc Ponet, and BachPlus, conducted by Bart Naessens.
For Jannes, authenticity, spontaneity and vulnerability are at the heart of experiencing and sharing music.
