READING JOINS THE RED EVENTS MAP: A FIRST CONCERT IN THE CITY

With Reading, Red Events adds another city to its growing cultural geography — this time with “Hayao Miyazaki’s Dreams by Mystery Ensemble” at the University of Reading, our first concert in the city.

The programme itself belongs to a world audiences already know and love: the delicate emotional architecture of Joe Hisaishi’s music, the suspended beauty of Miyazaki’s cinema, the feeling that tenderness and wonder can carry an entire evening. In Reading, that world found a new setting and a new audience.

Across the concert, the music moved through familiar inner landscapes — from the warmth of My Neighbor Totoro to the quiet radiance of Spirited Away, the lyricism of Howl’s Moving Castle, and the distant shimmer of Laputa. Performed live by the Mystery Ensemble, these scores unfolded with intimacy, clarity, and a sense of shared recognition.

For Red Events, each new city subtly reshapes the experience of a programme. A different room, a different atmosphere, a different way of listening. Reading now becomes part of that expanding map — and of the wider journey of bringing our concerts into new cultural spaces.

We thank Reading for this warm first welcome and look forward to returning.
