Two Cities, Two Portals: Our First Concerts in Lichfield and Portsmouth

On 5 June, we opened two new doors on the UK map with our first concerts in Lichfield and Portsmouth — two cities, two cathedrals, two completely different worlds brought to life through music.

In Lichfield Cathedral, The Music of The Lord of The Rings carried the audience into the deep mythology of Tolkien’s universe. Mystery Ensemble performed the programme in their own arrangements, letting the familiar themes move through the cathedral’s vast architecture with a sense of old stone, distant roads and stories passed from one generation to another.

The same evening, Portsmouth Cathedral became a softer, more dreamlike space with Hayao Miyazaki’s Dreams by Mystery Ensemble. The music of Joe Hisaishi opened a different kind of journey — one shaped by flying castles, forest spirits, brave heroines and the quiet poetry of Japanese animation.

These first concerts in Lichfield and Portsmouth became more than new points on our concert route. They were two atmospheres, two emotional languages, two invitations to leave the everyday behind — if only for one hour.
