Red Events arrived in Chester for a landmark evening at Chester Cathedral — our first-ever concert in this venue and the premiere presentation of “Tim Burton’s Universe” by Mystery Ensemble for our audience in this city. The night’s defining visual element was a luminous Moon installation suspended inside the cathedral, transforming the historic interior into a surreal cinematic setting.
The cathedral’s gothic scale and resonance proved a powerful match for Burton’s contrasting worlds — where wonder and unease, tenderness and menace, exist side by side. Under the Moon’s glow, the space became part of the storytelling, amplifying both the intimacy of the quieter moments and the grandeur of the climaxes.
At the heart of the programme was the music of Danny Elfman, Burton’s long-time collaborator and one of the most distinctive film composers of our time. In unique arrangements performed by the Mystery Ensemble, the concert travelled through the soundscapes that shaped Burton’s universe.
This Chester night marked another step in Red Events’ growing concert map: bringing our programmes to new cities and atmospheric venues across the UK and beyond.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Chester Cathedral and helped make this debut evening truly memorable!
