Tribute to Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons Recomposed
Join us for an extraordinary musical dialogue between two visionary composers – Antonio Vivaldi and Max Richter – performed by Ensemble Sinfonietta Bern in the contemporary concert space of Der MaiHof – Pfarrei St. Josef in Lucerne.
This programme offers a fresh perspective on the iconic cycle The Four Seasons. Instead of presenting a single unified version, the concert takes you on a journey through the seasons, alternating between Vivaldi’s vivid baroque original and Richter’s contemporary reimagining. Each movement becomes a conversation across centuries – between tradition and innovation, between the handwritten and the cinematic.
Max Richter, one of today’s most acclaimed composers, gained worldwide recognition with Recomposed: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, a project that blends classical strings with ambient minimalism. Since its release in 2012, the album has topped charts and become a modern classic in its own right.
Alongside Richter’s luminous soundscapes, Vivaldi’s masterful depictions of nature, life, and time remain as powerful as ever – a musical calendar full of colour, charm, and vitality.
In this one-hour concert, you can expect a thoughtful selection of interwoven movements from both composers, along with bonus pieces from Richter’s solo albums and film scores – creating a deep and immersive listening experience.
The concert is organised by the creative agency RED EVENTS & Distribution Ltd., known for producing exceptional cultural experiences in historic mansions, on rooftops, in greenhouses, and in some of the most atmospheric venues across Europe, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and beyond. Their repertoire also includes a distinctive collection of candlelit concerts and fully immersive performances combining video art and sound.
